TABUK CITY, July 3 – Twenty-seven former rebels of the New People’s Army (NPA) who have availed of the government’s livelihood training program are now traders in their own right using the P20,000 extended by the government as capital for their business ventures.

Razon optimistic on resumption of GRP-MILF peace talks

PRESIDENTIAL Adviser on the Peace Process Avelino I. Razon Jr. today expressed high hopes of resuming the stalled peace talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) sooner than later after a top MILF official reaffirmed that the 2003 ceasefire signed between the government and the MILF stands.

Visiting UN human rights execs support Mindanao peace process

MANILA – Visiting officials from the United Nations humanitarian headquarters based in New York and their Asia-Pacific section office in Bangkok have expressed full support to the  comprehensive peace process pursued by the Philippine government in Mindanao.

A delegation of the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) led by Agnes Asekenye-Oonyo, UN-OCHA Section Chief for Asia and the Pacific, recently visited evacuations centers in Maguindanao province and other areas of Central Mindanao, including Cotabato City.
