PRESS STATEMENT

            The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process would like to correct the article published on the website of the Philippine News Agency (PNA) regarding the supposed appointment of OPAPP Undersecretary Luisito G. Montalbo as the last member of the GRP Peace Negotiating Panel for Talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

            Mr. Montalbo took his oath of office as OPAPP Undersecretary and not as a member of the negotiating panel. It was only Vice Mayor Ramon Piang of Upi, Maguindanao who was sworn in by President Aquino as member of the Government Peace Negotiating Panel with the MILF.
