DAVAO CITY, Oct. 22 (PNA) – The Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) is planning to create a special body to boost Halal production in the region.

Manguib Sinarunto, special assistant to the regional secretary of the Department of Interior Local Government (DILG) of ARMM, said the body will be named Economic Development Agency.

“It should be a corporate body created by the government to focus mainly on Halal food production,” Sinarunto said.

Sinarunto added that there is not enough production due to lack of infrastructure.

A draft of the plan, including the passage of a law creating the agency is now at the level of the ARMM government, he said.

Although ARMM wants the private sector to act as key players in the planned agency, it seemed they are lukewarm to it due to the region’s peace and order problem.
