OPAPP to launch “Project for Peace” program Jan. 27 PDF Print E-mail

MANILA, Jan. 21 – The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) will launch a nationwide “Project for Peace”  on Jan. 27, tapping civil society as partners in promoting a comprehensive peace program down to the community level for the country to attain a lasting and genuine peace, security and  development.

Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process  Annabelle T. Abaya will orient participants about the program and solicit their project proposals  “for possible financial and technical support for calendar year 2010 during a forum will be held at the Astoria Plaza Hotel in Ortigas Center, Pasig City starting at 8:30 in the morning.

The second “Project for Peace” program, will be held in Davao City on Jan. 29 and the third in Iloilo City on Feb. 3.

Abaya said OPAPP will engage partners from civil society in line with the continuing effort to strengthen the peace constituency on the government’s efforts putting the peace process at the forefront.

She  will update the participants on the status of the implementation of the National Peace Plan (NPP) and the current thrusts and direction of the comprehensive peace process.

The Arroyo government is working hard hoping to forge a separate peace accords with two main rebel groups – the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Communist Party of the Philippines/New People’s Army/National  Democratic Front (CPP/NPA/NDF).
